I Declare Study

The mission of this study is to move us beyond simply wishing for change in our lives and into boldly declaring God's truth until it transforms the way we think, live, and follow Christ.

The truth is, I have spent a lot of my life having really good intentions. I intended to be more patient. I intended to not be so angry. I intended to walk out of my cycle of sin. I intended to trust God instead of worrying. I intended to forgive. I intended to pray more consistently, choose joy, have courage, and become the person I knew God was calling me to be. And for a long time, I think I gave myself way too much credit for those intentions. I wanted to change, so somewhere in my mind I convinced myself that wanting to change meant I was actually changing. But year after year, guess what? No change at all; just really good intentions.

That's what this study is about. Moving beyond hoping we'll grow and becoming intentional about agreeing with what God says, declaring it over our lives, and then choosing to live like we believe it. Over the next eight weeks, we're going to get honest about some areas of our lives that are easy to talk about but much harder to actually live out. Consistency. Responsibility. Wisdom. Criticism. Forgiveness. Joy. Grit. Contentment/Giving. None of these will change simply because we want them to. But we're going to dig into what God's Word says, declare that truth over ourselves, and then ask the harder question: What would it actually look like to live this today?
